Fast And Reliable Broadband For Construction Sites

Fast and reliable internet access benefits virtually every aspect of a construction project. Uninterrupted connectivity improves communications, workflow management and IoT efficiencies, and provides real-time data insights.

Whatever your project size or location, MID Digital Solutions can provide a construction site broadband solution. Take a look at the four popular broadband connectivity options we offer:

  • SOGEA (Single Order Generic Ethernet Access)

  • FTTP  (Fibre to the Premises)

  • FTTC  (Fibre to the Cabinet)

  • Dedicated Leased Lines

SOGEA (Single Order Generic Ethernet Access)

Single Order Generic Ethernet Access (SOGEA) is a great option for a construction site requiring good internet without a traditional phone line. SOGEA is a broadband service without an old-style phone connection. It uses fibre optic and copper cabling to deliver the connection.

SOGEA offers the following:

  • Quick and simple setup

  • VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) integration for your phone calls

  • Faster internet than legacy (ADSL) broadband

  • Stable performance over a mostly fibre infrastructure

FTTP  (Fibre to the Premises)

Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) provides ultra-fast internet directly to your construction site using fibre optic cabling. FTTP is a pure fibre service that avoids the ‘throttling’ effect of copper wires. As such, you enjoy faster internet and seamless, reliable connectivity.

FTTP’s benefits include:

  • Fantastic speeds

  • A better signal due to less signal degradation

  • A stable, constant connection due to lower interference

  • Future-proofed infrastructure

  • Adaptability to scale as your internet demands grow

FTTC  (Fibre to the Cabinet)

Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) offers faster speeds than standard broadband and is often more affordable than full fibre technologies. With FTTC, fibre cables transmit high-speed data from your ISP’s servers to a local street cabinet. From there, copper cables connect the last ‘mile’ to your site.

FTTC promises:

  • Decent speeds

  • Lower cost than full fibre services like FTTP

  • Improved performance compared to copper-only connections

  • Viable, high-performing internet in areas without full fibre coverage

  • Easy installation

Leased Lines

A leased line is ideal for construction projects with multiple locations, large document transfers, and frequent video meetings.

A leased line is a private connection, meaning you don’t share bandwidth with other users. This exclusivity is usually more stable and can be secured more tightly.

A leased line offers:

  • Fast, reliable internet on a dedicated line

  • Robust data security

  • Symmetrical bandwidth (the same speeds for uploads and downloads)

  • Flexibility to scale if your online demands grow

“We been with Mid Digital for 18 months now and have always found them to give the highest level of service. The transition from our previous provider was very smooth with any issues being dealt with promptly and efficiently. I find the ability to have shared data and call time across all our numbers extremely beneficial and this was not available from our previous provider, so we have received better service at a reduce cost by going with Mid Digital. If I have any issues, I feel confident I can either ring or email them and I will get a prompt and useful response, again this wasn’t the case with my previous provider.”

IT Manager

“Kingfisher Learning Trust has partnered with MID Digital Solutions for over a decade, both as a standalone school prior to creating the Trust and now as a group of 4 schools currently. The Trust places great emphasis on long term sustainable partnerships with key suppliers and to enable this we need to receive the best possible service, both proactively and reactively. MID have done this and continue to do this consistently. They are a key partner in providing mobile phone and data across the Trust, but also a key partner in supporting the Trust with its digital strategy moving forward. The team at MID always deliver on what they promise, offer us the best possible deals and the people are great to deal with. I cannot recommend them highly enough”

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

You ask, we answer.
Why would a construction site need a static IP address?

A static IP address is often used in the construction industry to better secure remote access from multiple different locations. A static IP allows remote teams to easily and securely access on-site systems like surveillance cameras, IoT devices, or project management software from any location.

What factors should you consider when choosing a broadband provider for your construction site?

When choosing a broadband provider for your construction site, it’s important to consider speed, reliability, customer support, contract terms, and other features like security and backup connections.

Can I get fibre at my construction location?

MID Digital Solutions can perform an accurate check of the fibre coverage in your area using your postcode. We have relationships throughout the UK market to ensure you receive the best available connectivity wherever you are located.
