Fast And Reliable Broadband For Restaurants

Fast, consistent broadband enables improved restaurant performance across the board. From ordering and payments to staff management and marketing, all areas benefit from efficient online access. Customer loyalty can also be deepened via free WiFi and an enticing online delivery service.

The best business broadband for your restaurant depends on factors like its size, location, and planned internet and cloud usage.

MID Digital Solutions offers four excellent broadband connectivity options to elevate business efficiencies and guest experiences.

  • SOGEA (Single Order Generic Ethernet Access)

  • FTTP  (Fibre to the Premises)

  • FTTC  (Fibre to the Cabinet)

  • Dedicated Leased Lines

SOGEA (Single Order Generic Ethernet Access)

Single Order Generic Ethernet Access (SOGEA) is a broadband service that delivers internet without an ADSL-type phone line. In the UK, landlines are becoming less popular, as a digital phone line can be used for unlimited calls over the internet.

SOGEA is a simplified, cost-effective setup for restaurants seeking fast internet. It is especially relevant if you plan to upgrade your phone system to internet telephony and VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol).

The benefits of SOGEA include quick installation, lower costs, and better speeds than traditional broadband.

FTTP  (Fibre to the Premises)

Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) offers blazing-fast internet directly to your premises using fibre optic cables. This pure fibre broadband technology avoids the bottleneck of copper lines. Restaurants using FTTP can expect continuous coverage to multiple access points without signal degradation.

FTTP’s reliability and performance make it ideal for multiple users and applications (payments, reservations, inventory and finance management, WiFi networks etc). A download speed of up to 1 Gbps can be achieved, while upload speeds approach 200 Mbps.

If you aspire to open more restaurant sites, FTTP can be easily scaled to support expansion plans.

FTTC  (Fibre to the Cabinet)

Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) is a practical solution for improving broadband speeds in areas without full-fibre coverage or where laying fibre optic cables to your premises is too costly or impractical.

FTCC combines fibre optic technology with traditional copper cabling. Fibre cables deliver high-speed broadband from the local exchange to a street cabinet near you. Copper lines then transmit the data over the last stretch to your restaurant.

FTTC delivers faster speeds than standard broadband; however, the speed is often better the closer you are to the street cabinet. FTTC is generally more affordable than full-fibre deals.

Leased Lines

A leased line grants your restaurant a private, dedicated connection. Unlike shared broadband, leased lines provide exclusive access to a specific amount of bandwidth.

If you want an uncontested internet connection and are prepared to pay a bit more, a leased line may be perfect for you.

Premium leased lines are high-speed, dependable, and support heavy data usage. They are also very scalable. With less interference on the line, you can expect a robustly secure network.

“We been with Mid Digital for 18 months now and have always found them to give the highest level of service. The transition from our previous provider was very smooth with any issues being dealt with promptly and efficiently. I find the ability to have shared data and call time across all our numbers extremely beneficial and this was not available from our previous provider, so we have received better service at a reduce cost by going with Mid Digital. If I have any issues, I feel confident I can either ring or email them and I will get a prompt and useful response, again this wasn’t the case with my previous provider.”

They are a key partner in providing mobile phone and data across the Trust, but also a key partner in supporting the Trust with its digital strategy moving forward. The team at MID always deliver on what they promise, offer us the best possible deals and the people are great to deal with. I cannot recommend them highly enough”

What type of broadband is best for restaurants?

A fibre or leased line broadband connection is best for busy modern restaurants. These technologies deliver high-speed, reliable connectivity with the capacity for advanced security features.

How can a restaurant properly secure its broadband?

To secure their broadband, restaurants should:

  • Use strong encryption for their WiFi networks

  • Regularly update passwords
