Our Story
Over 20 years in mobile, from our first O2 store in 2005 to a dedicated business mobile team.
Who We Are
MID Digital Solutions is part of the MID Group, alongside MID Communications, which grew from a single O2 franchise in 2005 to become the largest independent O2 franchise in the North West. For almost two decades we sold O2 products under the O2 brand to business and personal customers, from our retail stores across Greater Manchester, Cheshire, Merseyside and the Fylde Coast.
In 2024, our retail stores transitioned back to Virgin Media O2, and in 2026 we passed our wholesale business and our services beyond mobile to Guru Technologies. Together, those changes let us put everything into the youngest member of the group, MID Digital Solutions, and focus on the thing that made us great in the first place: looking after business customers and their mobiles, with a dedicated account manager who knows your business.

MID Communications is founded
We open as an independent O2 franchise, selling O2 products under the O2 brand to business and personal customers.
- 2009
Danny Simpson joins MID Communications
Our now CEO, Danny Simpson, joins the business, beginning the journey that would shape MID for years to come.
- 2016
From 9 stores to 16
- Three acquisitions in a single year, totalling £5m, take us from 9 to 16 O2 stores across the North West.
- Our team grows to around 170 people across our stores and senior leadership.

Investors in People Silver
Awarded Investors in People Silver, recognising how we lead, support and develop our growing team, and the first step on our journey to Platinum.

MID Digital Solutions is created within the MID Group, dedicated to looking after business customers across the region.

We achieve Investors in People Platinum for a second time. It felt so nice, we had to do it twice!

A new focus on business
Our O2 retail stores transition back to Virgin Media O2, letting us focus fully on MID Digital Solutions and our business customers.

Named O2 Business Engage Partner of the Year, recognition from O2 itself for how we look after our business customers.

Back to what made us great
We transition our wholesale business, and our services beyond mobile, to Guru Technologies. It gives us the chance to step back, reset and focus entirely on business mobile, and on what made MID great in the first place. Delivering great sales through great service!

Business mobile on O2, Vodafone and EE, with new, refurbished and leased devices, and a dedicated account manager for every customer. Still local, still focused on our towns and communities, and still the people you know.
